It's not often that a debate over water fluoridation brings a band together, but that's how the traveling folk singer Felix Sonnyboy Wilson ended up with the Muddy Boots.

Muddy Boots guitarist Charlie Baker — who first met Wilson when they collaborated in Bellingham on an anti-fluoridation song — talks about the star of the show, who is living in Bellingham before he heads back over to Ireland.

Question: Tell me about the group.

Answer: The band came together in October 2007. Basically Felix has been a solo performer all his life. He's performed from Alaska to the Eiffel Tower to Ireland and everywhere in between. He’s been kind of an old-timey, folk, Appalachian, country mixture. He does guitar, banjo and ukulele. We basically are a back-up band to his solo act.

Q: So, who's in the Muddy Boots Band?

A: Donald Denney is the bass player and the drummer is Jason Darling.

Q: Do you have a record out?

A: We just have a five-song demo at this point. We're going to start recording a full-length CD in a couple weeks.

Q: What should revelers expect from a performance with Felix and the Muddy Boots?

A: It's a real entertaining gig. It's more than just music. Felix is just a delightful performer. It's something I think you just have to experience.
