Question: So how did you two come together?
Answer: It was pretty cool. Tara and I met when our kids started preschool 10 or 11 years ago. We didn’t realize we had this shared love of music for a few years until we sang together at a party. It was kind of magical what happened when our voices blended. What I think is really interesting is that we’re kind of late bloomers because we didn’t start this until we were in our 40s. It helps us keep our youth because of the newness and the freshness, and we’ve still got something to learn. It’s been very exciting for us.
Q: How would you describe your music?
A: It’s kind of an interesting mix of old-time mountain music and there’s a blue-grass influence in there and lots of folk influences … Our second CD is more pared down. We really like to take the music down to the minimum, the bare bones… Our primary thing is our vocals.
Q: What are some of your future touring plans and goals for the band?
A: Bellingham is a great place to be involved with music, and it’s especially welcoming to this type of music. We were invited down to play the Florence Winter Folk Festival (in Oregon). We’ll play through at the Community Food Co-op and then leave for Mount Angel, Ore. to play and then go down to Florence to play. It’s a three-city tour if you count Bellingham.
