Formed in 2001, The Crying Shame got its start in Bellingham. The band’s Americana folk sound is influenced by old country and even some punk, along with Bob Dylan and Beethoven.

Begun as a duo, the band now has five members, including Arlan Lackie on vocals and acoustic guitar, Dylan Rieck playing the cello, Eric Woodruff on electric guitar, Oliver Herrin on drums, Bradford Button on bass and Teo Benson on violin. The band is working on a new album, hoping to release it later this year.

The now Seattle-based band is playing Saturday at the Green Frog Cafe Acoustic Tavern, 902 N. State St., with music starting at 9 p.m.
