Lynden fairgrounds to have demolition derby June 5, 6

LYNDEN - The Northwest Washington Demolition Derby and Auto Show will take place Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6, at the Northwest Washington Fair and Events Center.

Annually one of the most popular events at the Northwest Washington Fair in August, the derby is being put on in addition to its usual fair dates to provide more opportunities for spectators and drivers, said Jim Baron, manager of the Northwest Washington Fair and Events Center.

The derby will begin at 7:30 p.m. both nights.

The auto show will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. June 5 and noon to 9 p.m. June 6. Admission for the car show is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger.

Tickets to the derby, which include admission to the car show, are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 12. Tickets can be purchased online at northwestwashingtonfair.org, by calling the fair's ticket box office at 354-7777 and at the gate.
