Whether it's the pigs, the curly fries, the carnival rides or the grandstand shows, the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden has something for everyone.
This year's fair runs from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, through Aug. 22. Grandstand events are the demolition derby on Monday, Clint Black on Tuesday, Emerson Drive on Wednesday, Foreigner on Thursday, the Gaither Vocal Band on Friday and the freestyle motocross show on Saturday.

CIRCUS TIME
Members of the Bellingham Circus Guild are joined by the Missoula Oblongata, an experimental theater company, in a performance of "The 50 Greatest Ladies and Gentlemen," an original story set in France, at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Lookout Center, 246 Old Highway 99, south of Bellingham.
Suggested donation for the production is $10. To get to the center, go south on Interstate 5 to exit 242, go south on Old Highway 99 for about a half-mile and turn right across the road from the Squires Lake trailhead.

BICYCLE SHOW AND SHINE
The Pickford Film Center and the Mount Bakery host an event on Friday, Aug. 14, celebrating the bicycle as a mode of transportation and to make the public aware of the Pickford's future home at 1318 Bay St.
The bike-in offers community bike-lovers the opportunity to show off their bikes and win prizes, and is followed by a screening of the award-winning animated film "Triplets of Belleville." Bike registration is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with music by Bar Tabac on the street in front of the future film center. Seating will be on hay bales; bring a lawn chair if you wish. Admission is by donation.

GRASSROOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL
The ninth annual Summer Meltdown features Northwest bands Flowmotion, The One, Pandacon, Vicci Martinez, the March Fourth Marching Band, Tony Furtado, Acorn Project, the Staxx Brothers, Bellingham's Yogoman Burning Band and many others, Friday through Sunday, Aug. 14-16, at the Whitehorse Mountain Amphitheater in Darrington.

CHAMBER MUSIC ON ORCAS
The Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival presents performances by violinist/fiddler Mark O'Connor, the Miro Quartet, pianist Jon Kimura Parker and a free children's concert, as well as seminars and pre-concert talks, Sunday, Aug. 16, through Aug. 22 at the Orcas Center in Eastsound.
