Wife sought after allegedly setting husband on fire

Staff writerJuly 17, 2014

Renton police on Thursday were looking for a woman with family ties to the Tacoma and Spanaway area after she allegedly set her husband on fire.

The 40-year-old woman poured gasoline on her husband Wednesday morning and lit him on fire inside a Renton apartment, police said. The News Tribune is not naming the woman because she has not been charged.

The man suffered serious burns to his upper body and head, and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, police spokesman Robert Onishi said.

A clerk notified emergency responders of the injured man after he walked into the store and asked for medical aid.

Onishi said firefighters had to ventilate the apartment with fans due to the strong gasoline odor.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call 911 or Renton police at 425-430-7500.
