VIDEO: Riding the Sumner Link Trail

Russ Meyers of Puyallup rides the Sumner Link Trail in June.

CRAIG HILL

I’ve had a few opportunities this summer to ride the newly connected sections of the Sumner Link Trail.

The 8-mile stretch of trail stretches from the Puyallup River north to Stewart Road and only uses the road (a well-marked bike lane) for 0.6 miles. It’s relatively flat and definitely scenic as it passes through farmland, over rivers and creeks and along the old and now overgrown Sumner Links Golf Course.

Perhaps it’s best attribute is in its middle name. It serves as a safe link for cyclists who can use to connect the Interurban, Foothills and other trails.

Visit the City of Sumner website for trail map (you might need it the first time out). And here’s some video from a recent ride on the trail.
