East Poinsett County hires coach from UA staff

The Associated PressJuly 16, 2014

— East Poinsett County High School in Lepanto has hired a member of the University of Arkansas staff as its new boys basketball coach.

The Jonesboro Sun reports (http://bit.ly/1zJMO46 ) that McKenzie Pierce has been hired as head coach of the Warriors. Pierce replaces Josh Hill — who resigned to accept a position in the Sylvan Hills School District.

Pierce has been a student manager and a graduate assistant for the Razorbacks during the past four years. He says he will bring UA coach Mike Anderson's "Fastest 40 Minutes in Basketball" theme to EPC.

EPC won the Class 2A state championships in 2011 and 2012 under Hill and finished as runner-up in 2013.
