Volunteers wanted for Project Homeless Connect on July 25


BELLINGHAM - Organizers of the sixth annual effort to provide free services to the homeless are seeking volunteers for the Friday, July 25, event at Bellingham High School.

Services offered during Project Homeless Connect will be confidential.

They will include screenings for vision and hearing, medical exams, dental care, women's health care, information on veterans' benefits, legal aid and housing help.

Services will be provided 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the high school, 2020 Cornwall Ave.

Whatcom Transportation Authority will provide free rides Thursday and Friday, July 24-25, for passengers countywide to help people get to the event.

Volunteers will be asked to help set up and clean up, provide intake, food service and other assistance to those who ask for help. Some positions will require training.
