LYNDEN - Two longtime local insurance companies will soon be merging.

Guide Insurance Services Inc. and Beacon Insurance will be combining into one company. On Friday, Aug. 1 the Beacon office at 208 3rd St. in Lynden will close and all operations will move to Guide Insurance at 8108 Guide Meridian, in the Lynden Towne Plaza. Beacon's Lynda Kowalski Williams and Lauri Anderson will join the 15-employee staff at Guide Insurance.

Joel Kok, president of Guide Insurance, said current clients will continue to work with their same agent and the phone numbers will remain the same. Beacon Insurance's customers will have additional insurance carriers to choose from.

Both companies have been in business for more than 50 years. Guide Insurance merged with Snapper Shuler Kenner in 2001, then split with SSK 10 years later when SSK was sold to Brown & Brown Insurance.

Details about Guide Insurance can be found at guideinsuranceservices.com.
