ORCAS ISLAND: Mountain bike trail proposed at Moran park

July 13, 2014

A public meeting will be held July 21 on Orcas Island to discuss a proposal to develop a mountain bike trail in Moran State Park.

The public can comment at the meeting and by email.

Washington State Parks is looking at long-term management options in the park as Orcas Power and Light Cooperative transitions away from the existing utility corridor there, according to a State Parks news release.

The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance has proposed development of a trail that will follow the alignment of the power line corridor. The developed trail would use an existing trail and the power line access road.

The meeting will be from 6-7 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Hall Meeting Room, 45 Lavender Lane, Eastsound.

For more information about the proposal, contact Andrew Fielding, environmental planner, at 509-665-4312. Email comments about the proposal to andrew.fielding@parks.wa.gov.
