NFL players Jake Locker, Michael Koenen to appear at Lynden food drive event

LYNDEN - NFL players and Ferndale High School alumni Jake Locker and Michael Koenen will appear at the Humor for Hunger food drive at the Northwest Washington fairgrounds Saturday, July 19.

The family-friendly event was created from the partnership of Koenen, punter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Locker, quarterback for the Tennessee Titans.

The event's goal is to collect 100,000 pounds of non-perishable food for people who struggle daily to put enough food on the table.

A silent auction from 5:30 to 7 p.m. will include autographed items from the Buccaneers, Titans and Seattle Seahawks.

G-rated performances by the Christian music group The Katinas and stand-up comedians Nazareth and Michael Jr. will start at 7 p.m.

Tickets range from $10 to $25 and can be purchased at or the day of the event.

Proceeds and food collected will be divided among 10 Whatcom County food banks.
