Methodist hospital's ER visits exceed expectations

The Associated PressJuly 11, 2014

— Methodist Olive Branch Hospital officials expect to see way more people in their emergency room at the conclusion of the facility's first year than anticipated.

David Baytos, CEO of the 100-bed Olive Branch site, tells The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/1mmMvH5 ) officials expected about 18,000 emergency room patients the first year. But as the anniversary approaches, already about 20,000 have been seen.

Hospital officials expect the total for the first year to come to 24,000 people, or about 6,000 more than expected before the hospital opened.

The hospital opened in August. Officials plan an anniversary celebration Sept. 13 that will include a blood drive.
