Foss Waterway Seaport offers lessons

There will be two sets of lessons for standup paddleboarding at the Foss Waterway Seaport on Saturday.

The Foss Waterway Seaport is offering two weekends of lessons to help people learn how to enjoy the waters of Puget Sound.

Saturday it offers standup paddleboard lessons from 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.

Kayak lessons will be offered from noon-2 p.m.

In addition, long-distance rower Jordan Hanssen will be at the seaport to talk about his experience rowing from New York to England and give tours of the boat he and teammates used.

From 11-11:30 a.m., he will talk about his experiences. From noon-1 p.m. he will be at the boat to answer questions and help visitors climb aboard.

From 1:15-1:45 p.m., he will talk about the science data the team collected while rowing.

On July 19, sailing lessons will run from 9 a.m.-noon.

Cost is $20 per lesson.
