SUV crashes into YMCA bus near Acme

One woman and five children were taken to the hospital Tuesday, July 8, after an SUV crashed into the back of a YMCA bus.

The bus was stopped at a railroad crossing north of Acme just before 10 a.m. when a Subaru Forester driven by a Deming woman slammed into the rear end of the bus, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary.

The woman was taken to St. Joseph hospital. Five of the 24 children from the YMCA bus also were transported to the hospital for minor injuries, Leary said. Their conditions were not available as of Tuesday afternoon.

The crash is still under investigation.
