The Guitar Center offers free ukulele lessons at Bellingham Public Library

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJuly 8, 2014

Learn to play the ukulele with free group lessons for beginners from 5-5:45 p.m. Thursday, July 10, and every other Thursday at the Bellingham Public Library, 210 Central Ave.

"It's definitely a really cool thing," said Dustin Crum, studio manager at The Guitar Center, which provides instructors.

A limited number of ukuleles will be available to students, so brings yours if you have one, Crum said.

"It's kind of popular right now; it resurged with folk music," he said.

Crum said instructors will teach basic chords and how to hold and strum the instrument.

Afterward, "they should be able to play simple chords and maybe even piece together a whole song."

For more information, contact Jenni Johnson at the library, 360-778-7217, or Crum at the Guitar Center, 360-733-3088.
