Build and fly a straw rocket with former astronaut

Retired NASA astronaut and former U.S. Navy Capt. Wendy Lawrence will help children build and launch straw rockets free from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Ferndale Public Market located in the Ferndale Riverwalk.

Lawrence also will be available to talk to children about her four flights aboard the space shuttle. All materials are provided by the Ferndale Kiwanis. Volunteers will be available to help children build their rocket, which they can keep as a souvenir.
