Japanese quilts on display at La Conner museum

The La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum, 703 Second St., hosts is ninth biennial Japanese quilt exhibit, "Wishes Through Our Hands," opening Wednesday, July 2, and curated by Miwako Kimura.

Much of the work is hand-pieced or hand appliqué using vintage kimono silks and finished with hand-quilting, including a futon by Junko Maeda.

Meet the featured quilters at an opening reception and take a guided tour of the exhibit at 3 p.m., followed by a reception with the featured quilters at 4 p.m. Tickets for the tour and reception are $30 for nonmembers, or $20 for the reception only. Admission is free for museum members.

The exhibit shows through Oct. 5, with numerous special events and workshops. Details: 360-466-4288, laconnerquilts.org.
