Post 7 perfect over weekend

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJune 29, 2014

Bellingham Post 7 was perfect this weekend. The team went 4-0 on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, picking up doubleheader wins against Juanita and Borders Beyond Baseball.

"The starting pitching was good all weekend," coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "They were dialed in."

Chad Richter got things started off right for Post 7 on the mound, pitching a shutout in a 7-0 win over Juanita while striking out seven.

"That was probably his best this season," Slesk said.

Lucas Petersen got a 7-4 win against Juanita in game two of Saturday, before Jake Albert and Drew Lomsdalen went on to pick up 9-0 and 5-3 wins against Borders Beyond Baseball on Sunday.

Joey Akers had two perfect games at the plate, going 2 for 2 against Juanita in game one and 1 for 1 against Borders Beyond Baseball in game three.

Drew Lomsdalen was huge in the 7-4 win over Juanita. He went 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple.

"We did a great job swinging the bats as well," Slesk said. "We're clicking on all cylinders.

Bellingham will look to continue its success on Monday, June 30.
