Backs Ericksen for clean-up leadership

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJune 29, 2014

I support state Sen. Doug Ericksen because of his dedication to the clean-up of Bellingham Bay, specifically the old Georgia Pacific site.

Under Sen. Ericksen's leadership as chairman of the Senate Energy, Environment, and Telecommunications Committee, a 10-year plan to clean up Bellingham Bay was developed.

Sen. Ericksen was the primary sponsor of the Model Toxic Control Act, which dedicates existing funds to cleaning up the most toxic sites throughout Washington State. The Model Toxic Control Act received overwhelming bi-partisan support. This act directs $90 million in taxpayer monies to the Environmental Legacy Stewardship Account, the Radioactive Mixed Waste Account, and the Brownfield Redevelopment Trust Fund Account. The act guarantees that valuable tax dollars are actually spent on clean-up efforts as opposed to expensive rent in lavish buildings and DOE slush funds.

Thank You, Sen. Ericksen for your strong leadership in protecting both our tax dollars and our waterways. Please join me in casting your vote for Doug Ericksen.
