Sandefur's strong outing leads Bells to win


Bells starting pitcher Aaron Sandefur threw seven innings of shutout ball and helped Bellingham earn a 1-0 West Coast League win over Kelowna on Saturday, June 28, at Joe Martin Stadium.

Sandefur allowed only one hit, struck out five and walked five.

The Bells scored their only run in the second inning on a throwing error. Catcher Eric Webber reached first on a single and stole second before coming around to score on the error.

Bellingham also struggled at the plate, recording just two hits. Second baseman Dustin Breshears had the Bells' only other hit besides Webber's

Bells closer Hever Bueno entered the ninth and earned his second save of the season.

Bellingham (11-5) leads the West Division and plays Kelowna next at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Joe Martin.
