MARIETTA — Security cameras caught images of a man who stole about $2,000 in personal tools from a Signs Plus truck early Friday, June 27.

Two employees had returned from a job in Bothell around 11 p.m. Thursday and left their personal tools in a company Ford F-250 in the parking lot at 766 Marine Drive, said Jim Sutterfield, co-owner of Signs Plus.

A man with a backpack and a pony tail hopped out of a Jeep Wrangler around 4 a.m. and walked up to the pickup. He smashed out a back window, then realized he couldn't reach the door handle, and smashed another window, Sutterfield said.

He lugged two heavy bags of tools from the truck to some bushes. He left them there for a little less than a half-hour — maybe killing time to see if anyone would show up, Sutterfield said — then moved them again to the Jeep waiting on the road. Someone else would have been driving. The Jeep, outfitted with a dark convertible top, left westbound.

Cameras caught a few angles of the man's face and light-colored clothing. His T-shirt might have an alien head design — something like this — judging by the picture timestamped 4:32:13.
