Neo-cabaret group Vagabond Opera brings artistic taste of Portland to the Shakedown

Vagabond Opera will perform Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Shakedown, 1212 N. State St. in Bellingham. Doors open at 9 p.m., music is at 10.

Vagabond Opera is described by the Washington Post as "a band of ceaseless charisma, boundless energy, impeccable musicianship and more than a little touch of both the naughty and exotic."

Vagabond Opera, performing Saturday, June 28, at Shakedown, 1212 N. State St., is at the vanguard of a growing neo-cabaret phenomenon, with theatrical performances and an eclectic repertoire bring the artistic spirit of Portland, Ore., to the world.

The ensemble has performed across the United State and in Europe, is featured regularly on NPR, and has shared stages with Pink Martini, Devotchka, The Decembrists and the Oregon Symphony.
