Carlos Cascante is a well-versed Latin singer whose forte is soneos, an improvising technique in salsa music. He performs with his band, Su Tumbao, as part of the Mount Baker World Music Festival at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center, 8591 Mount Baker Highway, Kendall.

Anchored by pianist Julio Jauregui, the band keeps one foot firmly planted in Latin jazz as it roams various dance beats, touching on the Caribbean influences.

Admission to the all-ages event is $15. Details: 360-599-1800.
