Post 7 beats Whalley 7-3

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJune 24, 2014

The American Legion Post 7 baseball team used three pitchers and timely hitting to record a 7-3 win over Whalley B.C. on Tuesday, June 24, at Sehome High School.

Josh Zavisubin threw three innings in relief, earning the win while striking out five and walking none. Drew Lomsdalen threw the first three innings and Lucas Petersen threw the seventh for a Post 7 club that soon enters a loaded slate of league contests.

"We pitched by committee tonight," Post 7 coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "We got a lot of bullpen work, and they all threw well."

Whalley tied the game at 3-3 in the top of third, but Post 7 used a three-run fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Davis Hampton, David Stealy and Brady Shearer all had key hits in the inning. Jake Manson finished the game 3 for 4.

Post 7 plays Garfield next at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Garfield.
