Scott Heath hit a grand slam home run to highlight a five-run fifth inning and Bellingham avoided a sweep with an 8-1 win over the Bend Elks on Sunday afternoon, June 22, at Joe Martin Field.

Heath's second home run of the season broke a streak of 18 scoreless innings for the Bellingham offense and helped the Bells (9-5) to their fifth come-from-behind win of the season after Bend (5-10) took an early lead in the top of the fourth inning.

Four Bellingham pitchers held the Elks to six hits and did not issue any walks. Ryan McMonigle got the start and threw 3 2/3 innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits. Reliever Dan Ludwig earned the win, pitching 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. John Albert pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning before David Bigelow made his team-leading eighth relief appearance and shut down the Elks in the final two innings.
