Slam secure playoff spot with 12th consecutive win

The Bellingham Slam used a big second-half effort to beat the Seattle Flight 139-118 during an International Basketball League game Friday, June 20, at DuVall Pavilion in Mount Vernon.

The win secured the Slam (13-2) a playoff berth and extended their win streak to 12 games.

Rico Wilkins scored a team-high 27 points for Bellingham, and Sam Freeman chipped in 22.

The Slam led 61-56 at halftime, but a 10-point third-quarter effort by Jacob Stevenson helped Bellingham pull away in the second half.

Bellingham returns home for its regular-season finale against the Vancouver Volcanoes at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Whatcom Pavilion.
