Everett man still in critical condition after motorcycle strikes deer on Highway 20

NEWHALEM - A motorcyclist remained in critical condition at a Seattle hospital Thursday, June 19, one day after he struck a deer on the North Cascades Highway west of Newhalem.

Glen R. Mixdorf, 65, of Everett, had been riding west on a red 2009 Kawasaki KL650 around 5 p.m. Wednesday when he crashed into a deer in the road three miles west of Newhalem, near Thornton Lakes Road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers found no evidence to suggest Mixdorf had been speeding. He wore a helmet and had a motorcycle endorsement on his driver's license. Troopers do not believe Mixdorf was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Mixdorf was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he remained in critical condition and in intensive care Thursday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

He had recently retired as a Snohomish County Public Utilities District attorney.
