Bellingham School Board member Stockburger resigns


BELLINGHAM - Bellingham School Board member Scott Stockburger resigned for health reasons Thursday night, June 12.

Stockburger's resignation was approved at Thursday night's board meeting 3-0, with Stockburger and Ken Gass absent.

Stockburger had been on the board since 2009 and was re-elected to the position in November 2013.

The board has 90 days to appoint someone to fill the vacant position. The appointee will serve until the next board member election in November 2015.

Applications for the vacancy will be accepted until June 30. The board will hold an orientation from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 23, for anyone interested in learning more about the requirements of the position. Those interested in attending should call Ruth Rasmussen at 360-676-6501 by noon Thursday, June 19.

Members are scheduled to discuss qualifications of applicants during executive session July 17, followed by a regular public meeting at 6 p.m. to select up to five finalists to interview. The board may interview finalists and make an appointment during a special session July 28.
