Bellingham child-care center KinderCare to close end of June

BELLINGHAM - The Bellingham branch of KinderCare will close at the end of June after a drop in enrollment.

Enrollment has decreased over time to the point where they can't sustain the operation, said Colleen Moran, senior communications coordinator for KinderCare.

"We decided to reduce this disruption to our families by closing this center at the start of summer break, rather than during the school year," Moran said.

KinderCare is working with parents to help them find alternative care by offering access to and connecting them to child-care groups in the area, she said. Organizations including Child Care Resource and Referral and Child Care Aware can help families find a new child-care center.

"We're doing everything we can to make this transition as smooth as possible for our families," Moran said.
