Happy to see only modest growth

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJune 11, 2014

The Herald reports that "Bellingham population still lagging." And that it's difficult for city officials to meet ambitious goals they have set for growth. Too bad, tough luck.

Planning Director Greg Aucutt says he is working to identify ways to achieve the approved population projection. The planners decided to plan for "ambitious" growth. Perhaps now is the time to readjust the plan for realistic growth.

It is no great tragedy if actual demand for population growth does not require development of every last square foot of space in the city. I for one would like to see, at most, modest growth.
