Cross-Border Expo in Ferndale June 12

Posted by DAVE GALLAGHER on June 10, 2014

The second annual British Columbia/Whatcom County Cross-Border Expo will feature a variety of events throughout much of Thursday, June 12, all free of charge.

The expo will include a trade show with more than 60 vendors, three business seminars and a business-after-business networking event at the Event Center at Silver Reef Hotel Casino Spa near Ferndale. The trade show event runs from 2 to 7 p.m.

New this year is the Doing Business in Canada seminar, which runs from 1 to 4:15 p.m. In recent years, seminars have been organized for Canadians doing business in Whatcom County, but opportunities also are available for Whatcom businesses in Canada, said Jim Pettinger, organizer of the expo.

Pettinger, president of International Market Access, said Whatcom County is an ideal gateway to Canada for aspiring exporters. Getting a foothold in Canada is a relatively straight-forward process, he said, and Whatcom County has the resources to help businesses get started.

While the seminar and other aspects of the event are free, registration is requested and can be done at CrossBorderExpo.com.
