Vikings tie for 20th in final 2013-14 Sports Director's Cup standings

A strong spring finish helped Western Washington University tie for 20th nationally among 300 NCAA Division II schools in the final 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings released Wednesday, June 4.

It is the Vikings' sixth straight Top 20 finish. They also placed sixth in 2009-10, seventh in 2010-11, 10th in 2008-09, 12th in 2012-13, and 13th in 2011-12.

"The consistency this program continues to show is outstanding," said WWU director of athletics Steve Card, who completed his first year in that position after 23 as associate AD. "It is a testament to the hard work of our student-athletes, coaches and staff."

The Vikings finished with 489 points, 218 in the fall, 25 in the winter and 246 in the spring.

WWU's national placing was the second highest among Great Northwest Athletic Conference schools with Alaska Anchorage leading at 16th (505.50).
