Bellingham's 6-year transportation project list up for hearing

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJune 4, 2014

BELLINGHAM - The public will have a chance at the next City Council meeting to comment on the list of Bellingham's transportation projects planned for the next six years.

The list, called the six-year transportation improvement program, or TIP, shows the road, transit and trail projects that are in line for state or federal grants.

The proposed TIP for 2015-20, to go before a public hearing on Monday, June 9, includes safety improvements on Alabama Street, new streets to future waterfront development, access to a new Costco, and an overwater trail from Boulevard Park to Cornwall Park.

Only transportation improvements are included on the list. Traffic calming proposals, such as speed bumps or intersection barriers, cannot be considered.

Details are at cob.org/services/planning/transportation/tip.aspx. The public hearing will be shortly after 7 p.m. at City Hall, 210 Lottie St. The council must approve the 2015-20 TIP before July 1.
