P-51 Mustangs to fly over Bellingham Friday for D-Day commemoration

BELLINGHAM - A four-plane formation of vintage World War II P-51 Mustangs will fly over 30 cities including Bellingham on Friday, June 6, to honor D-Day veterans.

The formation of single-engine fighter planes takes off from Paine Field in Everett at 9 a.m. and will fly directly over American Legion, Post 7 Bellingham, 1688 W. Bakerview Road, about 9:50 a.m.

The flyover, held by the Historic Flight Foundation in Mukilteo, commemorates the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

The planes scheduled to fly are P-51D "Val Halla," P-51D "Hell-er Bust," P-51D "Upupa Epops" and P-51B "Impatient Virgin."
