Coston finishes 33rd at Champions Tour event

Semiahmoo Golf Resort's Jeff Coston finished tied for 33rd on Sunday, June 1, at the Champions Tour Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines, Iowa.

Coston finished 3-under for the three-day tournament, 9 strokes behind winter Tom Pernice Jr., and earned $10,791.67 for the trip.

"I would have liked to have had a little more thunder," Coston said in a phone interview. "I was the only guy out there with a regular job. I think if I played little more regular on the tour, I'd be able to make a little more noise."

Coston shot a 4-under 68 on Friday, May 30, and followed it up with an even-par round on Saturday, May 31. He got off to a good start on Sunday, playing the first five holes 1-under. But double bogeys on Nos. 7 and 8 - his first of tournament - set him back.

"I had a little struggle staying under par there, and I made a couple of mistakes, but I made a couple birdies coming in," Coston said.

Coston next plans to head to the Oregon Open next week before heading to Gig Harbor for the U.S. Senior Open qualifier on June 16.
