WWU students asked to drop off items during annual Move-Out Madness

BELLINGHAM - Western Washington University and the city of Bellingham are partnering again to sponsor the annual WWU Move-Out Madness event at the end of the school year.

The drop-off sites are free and open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7:

-- York area: Franklin Park, 400 block of Whatcom Street.

-- Sehome area: Laurel Park, Indian and Laurel streets.

-- Happy Valley: gravel parking lot, 26th and Douglas streets.

Students are encouraged to bring donation items, recycling materials and landfill waste. Reusable items will be donated to a local nonprofit.

Bellingham Public Works staff will monitor the sites.

Moveout Madness was created to reduce items just dumped in neighborhoods and encourage re-use and recycling along with proper disposal of trash and hazardous materials.

Bellingham Herald is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
