Alliance adviser speak on conservation effort

Heath Heikkila of the Coastal Conservation Association will talk about the group’s advocacy efforts as the guest speaker at Thursday’s meeting of the South Sound Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers.

Heikkila advises the association in Washington and Oregon on fisheries policy and advocacy strategies. Prior to joining his current firm, Ball Janik, Heikkila worked as a policy adviser at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Heikkila will outline some of the recent successes of the recreational fishing community and discuss the need for continued reforms.

The meeting will be held at 6729 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The chapter’s general meeting starts at 7 p.m., with Heikkila beginning his presentation at 8 p.m.
