An Everson man was killed when his motorcycle crashed into the back of another vehicle Friday evening, May 30, on East Pole Road, according to Washington State Patrol.

Dominic Joseph Swope, 32, died after he failed to slow his burgundy 1986 Harley Davidson FXRSSP for two vehicles that had slowed in the eastbound lane while the first car waited to make a left turn around 7:04 p.m., according to State Patrol.

The other drivers were not injured.

Lynden driver Hector H. Olivares, 76, had slowed his burgundy 1999 Dodge Caravan to make a left turn off State Route 544. Lynden driver Petra Gonzalez Garcia, 31, who was driving behind Olivares, had also slowed her burgundy 2002 Cadillac Deville when Swope crashed into the back of her car, according to a State Patrol news release.

The cause of the crash was speed that was too fast for conditions, according to State Patrol.

It was not known if Swope was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the release. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the accident.
