Halsell named GNAC Men's Coach of the Year

Western Washington University's Pee Wee Halsell has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year in an announcement made by the conference office on Thursday.

Halsell directed the Vikings to their third straight conference championship and the school's fifth title overall, matching the most by any GNAC school. WWU also placed 15th at the NCAA Division II National Championships, the school's highest finish since joining that organization in 1998.

The GNAC men's outdoor honor was the fifth (2005, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014) for Halsell, who has won 10 GNAC track & field Coach of the Year awards overall. He also has four in men's indoor (2005, 2006, 2013 and 2014) and one in women's outdoor (2009).
