The original Stan Dexter's iris garden near Deming will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 31 and June 1. The garden is at 4345 Williams Road.

More than 100 unique, tall-bearded irises will be available for viewing, and some rhizomes will be on sale.

From Bellingham, go east on Mount Baker Highway past Nugent's Corner and turn right onto Hillard Road. At the stop sign, continue straight onto Williams Road, then go about one-fourth mile.

Dexter started the hybrid iris collection in the 1960s. The collection is cared for by Kristine Williams.
