Free disposal of hazardous waste Saturday at Lake Samish Shell station

Whatcom County residents can dispose of hazardous waste at a free collection event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the North Lake Samish Shell Station parking lot, 1215 N. Lake Samish Drive.

The event will be hosted by a toxics disposal program run by the Whatcom County Solid Waste Division.

Acceptable items include oil-based paints, garden chemicals and fertilizers, cleaning products, fluorescent lamps and more. Each household can dispose of up to 50 gallons of hazardous waste.
