New York pianist and singer Julian Velard performs his original theatrical pop and ballads at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Encore Room of Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St. in Bellingham.

New York pianist and singer Julian Velard performs his original theatrical pop and ballads at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Encore Room of Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St.

Velard became a bit of an Internet phenomenon in England, where his songwriting took hold in 2006. His MySpace postings helped land him a deal with EMI in 2007, and soon after Velard moved to England to further his career.

His debut single, "Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen," hit radio in the United Kingdom in 2008 and was featured on a number of shows.

Admission: $5 to $15, sliding scale. The event is presented by Amadeus Project.
