LYNDEN - Two state legislators who represent north Whatcom County will host a meeting to answer the public's questions about the county's complex water problems.
Sen. Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale, and Rep. Vincent Buys, R-Lynden, will hold a meeting they are calling "Water Solutions for Whatcom County," from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29.
Technical experts and public officials have met several times in the county since February to explain the complicated knot of competing water rights and how they might be untangled. Lynden-area farmers, tribes, rural well users and heavy industries all have a major stake in the discussion.
Water quality, including nitrate pollution in the north county's underground aquifers, also will be up for discussion Thursday. The meeting is at the Lynden Community/Senior Center, 401 Grover St.
