Blaine duo falls at Tri-Districts

Blaine girls' tennis singles players Alex Henderson and Saskia Dolk each lost in the consolation second round at the Class 1A Tri-Distirct Tournament on Wednesday, May 21, at Amy Yee Tennis Center in Seattle.

Dolk took a 6-1, 7-5 loss to Rebecca Hasle of Univeristy Prep in the first round, before scoring a 6-4, 6-1 win in the consolation first round. In the winner-to-state second round, Dolk took a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Annie Wright's Samantha Weeks.

"Saskia played really well to make it to the final match," Blaine coach John Freal said in a phone interview. "She played very smart and consistent."

Henderson, a senior, lost to Forrest Ridge's Sasha Cayward 6-2, 6-2 in the first round, but then took a 6-1, 6-4 win in the second round. She then took a 6-0, 6-3 loss to Hasle.

"What I'm going to remember about Alex is that she doesn't have a backhand, she has a left and a right forehand," Freal said. "It was nice watching her grow over four years. She faced some difficulties, but she'll go on and do other things."
