Ferndale sends one to state

Ferndale boys' golfer Tanner Lester closed off the back nine to finish sixth at the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament on Tuesday, May 20, at Everett Golf and Country Club.

Lester, who shot a 75 on Monday, finished Tuesday with an 85 to qualify for the state tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Vancouver.

"He did a good job hanging on," Ferndale coach Joel Wark said in a phone interview. "It was pretty windy conditions so everyone had a tough time putting today. The greens are so fast."

Other Tuesday results for Ferndale were Keenan Soube's 86, Dane Larsen's 88 and Joel Quanz's 105.
