Bellingham girls' golf sends five to state

Bellingham's girls' golf team showed its dominance in the Class 2A Bi-District Tournament on Tuesday, May 20, at Snohomish Golf and Country Club.

The Red Raiders took the first two individual spots and also qualified five golfers to state.

Jenn Paul won the tournament with a 154 after closing the second day with a 74. Madi McNeely finished second after shooting a 77 on Tuesday. Alex Ferrier, Sadie Steele and Emma Lochridge also qualified for state.

"They shocked me today," Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. "We knew coming in that we had Madi and Jenn. The shocker was 3-4-5."

Squalicum's Christina Kim, Maddi Atwood-Knutson and Courtney Flannery also qualified.
