3 NWC golfers lead at Bi-Districts

Emily Ming of Lynden's girls' golf team was the first-day leader at the Class 2A Bi-District Tournament preliminaries on Monday, May 19, at Snohomish Golf and Country Club.

Ming shot a 78 and was followed by the Bellingham duo of Jenn Paul and Madi McNeely in second and third, respectively. Paul shot an 80 and McNeely and 81.

"I think the girls played really well and we put ourselves in a situation that we can get a few through (to state) tomorrow," Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview.

Christina Kim led Squalicum with a 93, followed by Courtney Flannery's 95 and Maddi Atwood-Knutson's 99.

Hannah Peterson was the top golfer for Sehome at 106. Her teammate Taylor Firmstone shot a 115.

Bellingham's Emma Lochridge shot a 94 and Alex Ferrier had a 97. Sadie Steele was at 100 and Jaycie Roth shot 109.

Rachael Campbell also shot a 106 for the Storm, followed by Jordan Flannery's 108 and Kayla Holmes' 125.

Lynden's Kelsey Walczak had a 117 after the first day and Camille Sharp had a 127.

The Bi-District Tournament continues at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Snohomish Golf and Country Club.
