LC girls impress at sub-districts

Lynden Christian's girls' track and field team took second among nine teams at the Class 1A Sub-District Tournament on Friday, May 16, at Lynden Christian High School. The Lyncs finished behind King's.

The Lyncs' Hannah Rusnak (100, 100 hurdles, long jump), Madison Weg (high jump), Morgan Van Kooten (shot put) and their 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams all had event wins. Sixteen LC athletes qualified for tri-districts on Friday.

Meridian finished third and had eight people qualify for the next round, including event wins from Payton Lunde (200) and the 4x200 relay team.

Blaine took fourth and qualified nine athletes, including wins from Kieya Villars (300 hurdles) and Olivia Adams (pole vault).

Six athletes from Mount Baker, which finished sixth, qualified for tri-districts. The Mountaineers' Chynna Phan won the 800.

Nooksack Valley qualified five athletes.
