For the Blackhawks' girls' team, eighth-grader Sabryn Tom took fourth in the 400 with a 1:21.51 to qualify for the Quad-District Meet next week.

"This year was Sabryn's first time running," Shimek said. "She likes being part of the team, likes to participate. She always has a smile and wants to try something new. She tried quite a few events this year and had a good attitude."

Anthony Decoteao also competed for the Blackhawks, taking third in the high jump with a 5-00 and third in the 3,200 with a 13:39.46.

The Class 1B Quad-District Meet takes place on Thursday, May 22, at Port Angeles High School.
